RRB Photo & Signature Size — Pixels, KB & Format
The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) recruit for Non-Technical Popular Categories (NTPC), Level-1 / Group D and Junior Engineer (JE) posts. Start from an official RRB website and follow its application link to rrbapply.gov.in. ReduceSize KB is an independent image tool.

RRB NTPC, Group D and JE photo and signature requirements
Match the CEN number on your form before choosing a preset. These are the specific official sources reviewed here, not a claim that every RRB recruitment uses the same rules.
| Recruitment / CEN | Photo | Signature KB | Signature pixels | Format |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| NTPC Graduate 06/2025 | Live capture in form | 30–49KB | Minimum 140 × 60 | JPG / JPEG |
| NTPC Undergraduate 07/2025 | Live capture in form | 30–49KB | Minimum 140 × 60 | JPG / JPEG |
| Level-1 / Group D 09/2025 | Live capture in form | 30–49KB | Minimum 140 × 60 | JPG / JPEG |
| JE / DMS / CMA 05/2025 | Live capture in form | 30–49KB | Minimum 140 × 60 | JPG / JPEG |
For these sources, do not upload a resized old photograph or photograph a printout. Use the official live camera step. The tool below prepares the scanned signature only.
Prepare your RRB signature
Choose your CEN, then select a signature image. The preset checks 30,000–48,500 bytes and a minimum of 140 × 60 pixels. Width and Height start blank so a minimum is not mistaken for an exact resize. Images stay on your device.
Choose a limit. Results leave a 500-byte safety margin.
Choose the CEN that matches your form. This resets its signature limits and clears optional exact dimensions. Only one notice is selected, even when several notices share the same figures. Edits check your requested values, not a new official specification.
Before and after
Results list checks for file size, pixel dimensions and JPG format. A blank Minimum KB leaves the lower size limit unchecked; blank Width and Height leave exact pixel dimensions unchecked. Inspect the preview and follow your form’s background requirements.
Prepare the scan and inspect the result
- Start with your signatureCrop unnecessary paper without cutting pen strokes. Use an original scan rather than repeatedly compressing a small JPEG.
- Match your noticeSelect the CEN and keep its byte range. Fill both pixel fields only if your form specifies an exact size.
- Read all checksInspect the actual bytes, pixel minimum and JPG format, then open the preview before downloading.
Live photograph requirements
The reviewed notices use a webcam or the phone’s front camera during the application. Follow the on-screen frame and lighting instructions, keep the full face visible, and remove caps, masks and spectacles. Do not take a picture of a pre-existing printed or digital photo. This site does not capture or submit an RRB application photo.
Signature pixels are a minimum, not a fixed canvas
A 600 × 200 image can meet the minimum; it need not be reduced to 140 × 60. Blank exact fields let the shared compressor preserve proportions while working towards the byte cap. The result still checks that neither edge has fallen below the notice minimum. If you enter exact pixels below the minimum, processing is refused with the required values shown.
Ink, scanner and physical box
The listed sources call for black ink on white paper, running handwriting rather than block letters, at least 100-DPI scanning, and centring the signature in a 35 × 20 mm scan box. The tool does not check ink, identity, scanner metadata or millimetres. Its optional crop ratios are general editing choices; they do not certify that box.
If the file is too small or still rejected
A below-minimum output is marked failed and has no download. Try a clearer source or the increase-size link shown in the result; preserve the minimum pixels and any exact requirements your form actually gives. The tool does not pad a file or add noise to manufacture a pass. Do not lower the official minimum merely to obtain a download.
If the file checks pass but the portal rejects it, read that portal’s exact message. Review handwriting, missing strokes, background, scanner instructions and the CEN on your application. A technical pass here is not an RRB approval.
Frequently asked questions
What is the RRB photo size in KB and pixels?
For the specific CENs listed here, the photograph is captured live in the application module. There is no pre-existing photo file to resize with this tool. Follow the official camera instructions rather than an older photo-upload preset.
What is the RRB signature size for these notices?
The reviewed sources list JPG/JPEG, 30–49KB and minimum 140 × 60 pixels. The tool uses 30,000–48,500 bytes, including its 500-byte upper safety margin. It checks the pixel minimum without forcing the image to exactly 140 × 60.
Do NTPC, Group D and JE always have the same requirements?
No universal rule is claimed. The listed Graduate 06/2025, Undergraduate 07/2025, Group D 09/2025 and JE 05/2025 sources agree on these signature figures. Select and check your own CEN; another recruitment or year may differ.
Should I enter exactly 140 × 60 pixels?
Not simply because that is the stated minimum. Leave Width and Height blank to avoid exact resizing; the minimum is still checked. Enter both only when your actual form requires an exact size, and keep both at or above the stated minimum.
Why does a small signature fail the 30KB minimum?
Some clean signatures encode below the minimum. The existing signature mode preserves its quality floor and reports that failure without padding or a successful download. Use a clearer original, or try the increase-size tool with the same required limits and inspect the handwriting.
Does this verify ink, scanner DPI or the scan box?
No. The sources specify black ink on white paper, running handwriting, minimum 100-DPI scanning and a 35 × 20 mm scan box. Those remain manual checks. Generic optional crop ratios are editing controls, not official box-size presets.
Are my files uploaded, and is a passing result guaranteed acceptance?
Files are processed in a local browser Worker and are not uploaded. A pass checks the requested bytes, pixel constraints and JPG format only. Review ink, background, handwriting, scan quality and your current official instructions; the recruiting board decides acceptance.
