TNPSC Photo & Signature Size — Pixels, KB & Format
The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) conducts the Combined Civil Services Examination-II (Group II/IIA) and Examination-IV (Group IV). Official portal: tnpsc.gov.in; applications: tnpscexams.in. This is an independent image tool.

TNPSC photo size and signature size
Group II/IIA Notification 07/2026 and Group IV Notification 11/2026 have the same upload figures in Annexure I. Width is shown first.
| Upload | Pixels (W × H) | File size | Format / filename |
|---|---|---|---|
| Photograph | 130 × 170 | 20–50KB | JPG · Photograph.jpg |
| Signature | 230 × 75 | 10–20KB | JPG · Signature.jpg |
The tool checks bytes, pixels and JPG format. It does not add the name/date strip, remove a photo’s background, set DPI or verify the picture’s content. Prepare those before resizing.
Use the photo or signature preset · Read the official sources
Prepare a TNPSC photo or signature
Select a prepared image using the preset below. The photo preset checks 20,000–49,500 bytes; the signature preset checks 10,000–19,500 bytes. Both keep the listed pixels fixed. All processing stays in your browser.
Choose a limit. Results leave a 500-byte safety margin.
Photo is selected by default. Choose a document to reset all fields to its verified preset. Edits use your requested values; they do not change the published TNPSC requirements.
Before and after
Results list checks for file size, pixel dimensions and JPG format. A blank Minimum KB leaves the lower size limit unchecked; blank Width and Height leave exact pixel dimensions unchecked. Inspect the preview and follow your form’s background requirements.
Before using the TNPSC photo and signature presets
- Prepare the pictureCrop a copy to the right frame first. Keep all required text or pen strokes visible; exact resizing can change proportions.
- Select the documentPhoto and Signature reset the upper limit, minimum KB and exact width and height together.
- Inspect the resultRead all three checks and open the comparison. Download only a successful result, then inspect it at its actual size.
Photo content, name and photography date
The notices specify a colour studio photo on white, facing forward with both ears and part of the neck visible. The bottom must carry the candidate’s name and photography date. The diagram assigns 115 of the 170 rows to the portrait and 55 to the name/date area.
For each application, the photo must be taken on or after that notification’s date: 11 August 2026 for Group II/IIA, or 6 October 2026 for Group IV. The OTR instructions separately ask for a photo taken within the previous three months. Selfies and cellphone photographs are excluded in these notices.
Signature and scanner instructions
The notices describe signing in blue or black ink on white paper inside a 6.0 × 2.0 cm box, then scanning and cropping to the signature box. They also state a 3.5 × 4.5 cm photograph and 200-DPI scanning instructions.
Those centimetre sizes and 200 DPI do not mathematically produce the printed pixel figures above. This tool follows the explicit pixels; it does not resolve that discrepancy or set DPI metadata. Check the current official portal or ask TNPSC if it enforces scanner or physical-size requirements.
If a preset cannot meet the minimum
A clean signature or small portrait can contain too little detail to reach the minimum within fixed pixels. The tool shows the actual bytes and marks that result as failed. It will not add noise, pad the file or change fixed pixels to claim a pass. Use a more detailed original, or follow the increase-size link in the result and enter the same exact pixels; that attempt may also fail. Do not lower an official minimum just to obtain a download.
The checks cover only your requested file requirements. Name/date text, background, framing, ink, scan quality and visual legibility still need your review. A successful download is not an approval from TNPSC.
Frequently asked questions
What is the TNPSC photo size in KB and pixels?
The two verified 2026 notifications list 130 × 170 pixels and 20–50KB for the JPG photograph. This tool keeps those pixels fixed and uses a 20,000–49,500-byte range, including its 500-byte safety margin.
What is the TNPSC signature size?
The listed signature is 230 × 75 pixels, 10–20KB, saved as Signature.jpg. The preset checks 10,000–19,500 bytes and preserves the exact pixels. A result below the minimum is marked as failed.
Do Group 2, Group 2A and Group 4 use the same presets?
Yes, for the verified Group II/IIA Notification 07/2026 and Group IV Notification 11/2026. Their Annexure I upload instructions agree. Check the notice for your own recruitment year before using these presets.
Does this tool add my name and the date to the photo?
No. Start with a prepared photo that already includes the required name and photography date. Resizing does not add text or check that the text is correct. Inspect it again after downloading.
Why can my image fail the minimum KB requirement?
A simple image can encode below the minimum at fixed pixels. The tool does not add padding or noise, or enlarge pixels that you fixed. It reports the actual size and withholds the download. A clearer original may help; the increase-size tool can also try with the same exact pixel requirements.
Does this set or verify 200 DPI and the physical size?
No. These presets use the explicit pixel figures printed in the notices. The notices also give centimetre sizes and 200-DPI scanning instructions; these do not correspond to those pixels as a single conversion. This tool does not set DPI metadata or certify print dimensions.
Are my files uploaded, and do passing checks guarantee acceptance?
Images stay in your browser and are processed locally. Passing means only that the requested byte range, pixels and JPG format were met. Check the photo, background, name, date, ink and scanner requirements yourself; TNPSC makes the application decision.
